UMK 2027 tickets were effectively sold out in record time on Thursday morning, with tickets for both the evening show and the afternoon dress rehearsal at Nokia Arena in Tampere reserved almost immediately after sales opened at 09:00. Yle reported that only isolated tickets remained available.
The Finnish public broadcaster did not give an exact sell-out time, but said demand set a new record for the event. UMK has been held in Tampere since 2024, with tickets selling quickly every year. Nokia Arena can accommodate around 15,000 people for concerts, although the exact capacity depends on factors such as the size of the stage.
What is UMK?
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), or Contest for New Music, is Yle’s competition for selecting Finland’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. In recent years, it has also developed into a major showcase for Finnish pop music and one of the most closely followed Eurovision national selections.
Its audience has expanded both inside and outside Finland. Nearly 20,000 people attended UMK in person in 2026, with visitors coming from across Finland and 26 other countries.
The television audience has grown as well. The February 2026 broadcast reached around 2.5 million viewers. According to Finnpanel figures cited by Yle, UMK was the third most-watched television programme in Finland, behind the presidential Independence Day reception and the Eurovision Song Contest final.

UMK 2027 will bring seven acts to Tampere
The next UMK final will take place on 20 February 2027 at Nokia Arena. Seven competing performances will be joined by opening and interval acts, with the winner earning the right to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria in May.
The identities of the seven competing artists have not yet been revealed. They will be announced during a live broadcast on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena on 13 January 2027, while their songs and music videos will be released individually between 14 and 22 January.
The record ticket rush comes before audiences even know who will compete, offering another indication of how UMK has developed from a Eurovision national selection into one of Finland’s largest annual music television events.
