Stor Mand by Tobias Rahim and Andreas Odbjerg has become the most streamed song ever in Denmark, overtaking Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” after more than eight years at the top of the country’s all-time streaming ranking.
The Danish hit has now passed 90 million streams in Denmark, according to IFPI Denmark (IFPI Danmark), the organisation representing record companies in the country. The total is based on combined figures from Spotify, Apple Music and YouSee Musik.
Stor Mand passes Ed Sheeran in Denmark’s streaming ranking
The record marks a change at the top of Denmark’s streaming history. Since 2018, “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran had been the country’s most streamed song.
It has now moved to second place, while Sheeran’s “Perfect” ranks third. Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” complete the top five.
The rest of the all-time top ten includes Wham!’s “Last Christmas”, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights”, Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself”, Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” and Volbeat’s “For Evigt”.
For Danish music, the shift is symbolically important. The most streamed track among Danish listeners is now a Danish-language song, rather than an international English-language hit.
Danish music is gaining ground on local streaming charts
IFPI Denmark said the new record reflects a broader change in Danish music consumption. Danish artists have taken up an increasingly strong position on local streaming platforms and live stages.
Rikke Johan Bak, director of communication and public affairs at IFPI Denmark, said the fact that the most streamed song ever among Danish listeners is now in Danish is “a strong image of the position Danish music has achieved”.
She added that Danish artists are filling the charts, drawing audiences to the country’s largest stages and increasingly shaping how people in Denmark listen to music.
That trend has also appeared in recent annual rankings. In 2025, nine of the ten most popular songs in Denmark were by Danish artists, according to figures cited by IFPI Denmark.
A Danish-language hit with Nordic resonance
“Stor Mand” was released as a single in August 2021 by Tobias Rahim, featuring Andreas Odbjerg. The song later became one of the defining Danish pop hits of the early 2020s.
Its success also reflects a wider Nordic pattern: local-language music has retained a strong place in domestic markets despite the global reach of English-language pop. In Denmark, streaming has not only expanded access to international music, but also strengthened the visibility of national artists.
The rise of Danish-language streaming hits is therefore not only a commercial story. It shows how local pop cultures can remain influential in small European markets, even within a highly globalised music industry.
With more than 90 million domestic streams, “Stor Mand” has become a benchmark for Denmark’s streaming era. Its record suggests that Danish artists are not only competing with global acts, but increasingly setting the terms of the country’s own music market.
