Erling Haaland has become the Nordic countries’ all-time top scorer in men’s international football, reaching 64 goals for Norway and moving ahead of Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimović.
The record came as Norway beat Denmark 3-2 in Oslo on Thursday in their opening match of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Haaland scored twice, taking his international tally to 64 goals in 56 appearances.
Norway made a fast start. Oscar Bobb opened the scoring before Haaland doubled the lead. Denmark recovered through goals from Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Højlund to make it 2-2.
Haaland then scored again in the 74th minute to give Norway the victory.
Haaland moves ahead of Ibrahimović
Before the match, Haaland and Zlatan Ibrahimović were level on 62 international goals.
The Norwegian striker’s two goals against Denmark moved him clear of the former Sweden forward, who remains his country’s record scorer with 62 goals.
Haaland reached the Nordic record at the age of 26 and is the only active player among the five highest scorers on the list.

Denmark has two players tied on 52. Poul “Tist” Nielsen reached that total in 38 appearances between 1910 and 1925, while Jon Dahl Tomasson scored 52 times in 112 matches between 1997 and 2010.
Sweden’s Sven Rydell completes the top five with 49 goals.
Haaland now has the opportunity to extend his newly established Nordic record immediately. Norway’s next Nations League match is against Portugal on 27 September.
