The highly anticipated sequel “Troll 2” will have its global premiere on Netflix on December 1, according to a statement by the streaming platform on Monday. The film continues the story of the Norwegian blockbuster “Troll”, which became the most-watched non-English language film on Netflix with over 103 million views.
Director Roar Uthaug, who also helmed the original, described the new installment as “a spectacular adventure like nothing you’ve seen before.” Parts of the movie were filmed in Trondheim and inside the historic Nidaros Cathedral (Nidarosdomen), adding a distinctive Norwegian backdrop to the production.
New threats and familiar faces in Troll 2
In Troll 2, audiences will reunite with the characters Nora (Ine Marie Wilmann), Andreas (Kim Falck) and Captain Kris (Mads Sjøgård Pettersen). They are joined by a new character, Marion, played by Sara Khorami. This time, they face a double threat as two dangerous trolls awaken, posing a greater risk to Norway than ever before.
The creative team behind the first film returns for the sequel, including screenwriter Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud.

A milestone for Norwegian cinema
With its scale and ambition, director Uthaug has called Troll 2 “without doubt the biggest Norwegian film ever made.” The franchise highlights Norway’s growing presence in international film production, leveraging streaming platforms like Netflix to reach audiences worldwide.
The release of Troll 2 is set to further strengthen Norway’s profile in the global entertainment market and continue the success story of Nordic fantasy cinema.
